On Tuesday, the Omaha Storm Chasers defeated the Durham Bulls, 2-1, to win the Triple-A Championship in a game played at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa. (box)
Omaha pitcher Chris Dwyer took a perfect game into the seventh inning, when it was broken up by Tim Beckham‘s single. (Dwyer earned the game’s MVP award and a call-up to Kansas City.)
Some interesting names from the past in the box score:
- Former Washington Nationals catcher (and one-time Mets farmhand) Jesus Flores was playing for Durham, as was former Yankee Shelley Duncan.
- Ben Broussard, who started the year with the Long Island Ducks, played for Omaha.
I was at work and couldn’t make it to the game, but a couple of my friends went and Vinny Haynes (@buhudabear) said I could share some of his photos with you.
