Casey Meisner was the New York Mets’ third round selection in the 2013 amateur draft. He appeared in 10 games for the Gulf Coast League Mets last year, making four starts, and has moved up to the Brooklyn Cyclones this season.
The 19-year-old from Cypress, Texas has had a rough year in the New York-Penn League, posting a 2-3 record and a 5.26 ERA in nine starts. Over 37.2 innings, Meisner has given up 45 hits (including four home runs), but he has struck out 41 while walking 14.
Hopefully he will be able to turn things around and live up to the promise the Mets saw when they drafted him.
I mailed this 2013 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects card and a photo I’d taken of Meisner when I saw the Brooklyn Cyclones play last month to the team’s address and received both back a week later.
