The Rockland Boulders, a professional baseball team in the independent Can-Am League, named former Newark Bears pitcher Carlos Mirabal as their pitching coach for the 2016 season.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity given to me by the Rockland Boulders Organization,” Mirabal said in a team press release.

Mirabal is from Englewood and pitched for Bergen County Technical High School before playing for the Puerto Rican National Team in 1994. He signed with the New York Yankees organization in 1995, starting a professional career that lasted for 15 seasons.

In addition to playing for the Bears from 2006-2008, Mirabal pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters and played in Taiwan as well as various stops in minor league and independent league baseball in North America.
