It’s been almost three weeks since I was able to watch a baseball game at the ballpark, and this is one of the baseball cards I got signed then. Garin Cecchini is third baseman who split the year between the Single-A Salem Red Sox and the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. He was selected to play for the U.S. team at the All-Star Futures Game this summer and is ranked as the 83rd best prospect in the game by MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo

If the name sounds familiar to Mets fans, it’s because his younger brother Gavin was the Mets’ first round draft choice last year.

The elder Cecchini is one of the nicest autograph signers I ran across this year. While many players will do everything they can to avoid having to sign for fans, Cecchini actually came out early to make sure he got to everyone. He seemed to enjoy chatting with fans, too.

One thing, though – I would not want to have to figure out which brother signed a generic item like a baseball. Their autographs are very similar.
